The Songwriter…
Adelaide singer / songwriter Dave Freeman writes inside & outside the walls of emotions. Drawing from his own life experiences and of those around him Dave captures that raw sincerity and honesty that makes his songwriting so easy to relate to and connect with. He describes his writing style as acoustic blues feel with layers of folk, pop and rock. It’s mellow and like the old stone homesteads & buildings still standing today, within its natural, earthy mortar, there is always a surprise to find. The consummate storyteller, Dave loves a good story to stimulate the senses, be it his own journey or that of someone else, he writes with intent to speak with fact, truth with the embellishment of falling victim to being the hopeless romantic.
The Performer…
Dave Freeman the singer, the guitar player is relaxed on stage always attentive to his audience keeping it simple, intimate and fun. He shows no boundaries with song choices and with his own special delivery whether a cover song or original they all sound like his own. Dave’s rich voice resonates an honesty that keeps you intrigued enough to want to stop and listen, maybe stay for one more song. I would definately say my influences, be it with my own material or the covers I perform are tastes of Americana.
His voice receives many comparisons and one of them is that of Neil Diamond. In 2014 Dave wrote a stage show called “OMG! Neil Diamond Sounds Like Me” The reverse of what peoples have said. The show, the story and music of Neil Diamond continues to sell out. Dave says “I have always loved the songs from Neil, and his story is one worth telling” Funny enough we have a lot in common, minus the fame, and I have gathered some of my own stories during the Diamond journey.
